World Bank releases forecast on Azerbaijan's current account surplus

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 11. This year, Azerbaijan's current account balance is predicted to be 7.9 percent of its GDP, Trend reports via the World Bank (WB).

As per the World Bank's April report, the balance-to-GDP ratio will be 6.5 percent in 2025 and 5.4 percent in 2026.

The WB data shows that last year the ratio amounted to 7.9 percent.

The central bank forecasts a current account surplus of $7-8 billion at the end of 2024.

In 2023, the current account surplus of Azerbaijan's balance of payments amounted to $8.3 billion, accounting for 11.5 percent of GDP.

Azerbaijan's current account surplus in the balance of payments in 2022 reached a record 23.478 billion (2.8 times growth over 2021), or 23.5 percent of GDP, despite high oil and gas prices.
