2 more Azerbaijani Banks Enter Card Market

Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 March / corr Trend I.Khalilova / Millikart Ltd is expanding the list of banks served via this processing center. Millikart concluded contracts with two banks, which are preparing to enter the card market, Jalal Orujov, the executive director of the center, said. The debut issue of cards will be carried out after joining to the international payment system Visa International. Orujov avoided from publicizing their name until they obtain the membership.

Currently 10 banks render services via Millikard. The banks include Azerdemiryolbak, UniBank, Azerbaijan Senaye Banki, AzerturkBank, Debut Bank, Micro Finance Bank of Azerbaijan, Zamin Bank, AF Bank, EuroBank and Atlanbank. Shareholders of Millikart are 18 banks, out of 46, active in Azerbaijan.

The cards issued via Millikart comprise 55,000, with an increase of 5,000 as compared to the beginning of the year. By summer the number of cards will increase by 10,000 after connection with the plans of Azerdemiryolbank, UniBank, Azerbaijan Senaye Banki, etc.

So far, Azerikard, founded by the International Bank of Azerbaijan, has issued 2,900 cards and is now serving 30 banks.

Major part of cards fell on social and wage cards, issued by the International Bank of Azerbaijan and Kapital Bank. They occupy 91% of the market. They are followed by Texnikabank, Bank of Baku, Azerigasbank, Bank Standard, and Bank Respublika.

The number of banks served via Azerikard reduced after the migration of three banks (Azerdemiryolbank, Unibank and Zaminbank) to the card business of Millikart.
