The main purpose of the Astrakhan delegation's visit to Azerbaijan was the development of cooperation between the parties, Vice-Governor, the Astrakhan government chairman, Konstantin Markelov, said at a press conference dedicated to results of the visit today.
There is the agreement on mutual cooperation between the governments of Azerbaijan and the Astrakhan region since 2006.
At present, the parties established a working group to extend the existing agreement for the next five years. The agreement will expire in April 2010, Markelov said.
He said that a new inter-governmental agreement will be signed in April.
