Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 5 /Trend, A.Akhundov/
Volumes of supplies of seeds from Turkey to Azerbaijan could reach $10 million per year, President of Union of Seed Producers in Turkey (TSÜAB) Ilhami Ozcan Aygun told Trend.
"Now, the export of seeds to Azerbaijan is very small. Deliveries are made, but these supplies are not systematic. We are able to increase exports of these products to Azerbaijan to 10 million," said Aygun.
According to him, last year Turkey has been exported seeds totaling $100 million, and by 2023 it is planned to increase this figure to $ 500 million. More than 500 seed companies operate in Turkey.
"We want an international system of seed supply to be established in Azerbaijan as well. I think Azerbaijan will be the largest market for our products," said Aygun.
The representatives of 24 Turkish companies operating in the seed sector, TSÜAB and Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of Turkey are on visit to Azerbaijan from Sept. 4 to 8.
The head of seed sector at the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock of Turkey Metin Kylydzhoglu told Trend that absence of seed supply system in Azerbaijan prevents the accurate counting and to make predictions based on them.
"Our goal is to create some of the supply chain in Azerbaijan," said Kylydzhoglu.
