Some 1.04 million cars have been produced in Iran in the first eleven months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21, 2014-Feb. 20).

The figure indicates 58.2 percent increase compared to the same period of preceding year, Iran's industry, mines and trade ministry's official SHATA news portal reported March 8.

Sedan cars output stood at 881,467 in the mentioned period, 58 percent more year on year.

Iran also produced 139,717 pickup trucks, 18,179 trucks, 442 buses, and 158 minibuses in the 11-month period.

About 107,487 cars have been produced in Iran in the 11th calendar month of the current Iranian year (Ian. 21-Feb. 20). The figure is 32 percent more compared the same month of preceding year.

Sedan cars output stood at 90,305 in the mentioned month, 32.4 percent more year on year.

Iran also produced 14,573 pickup trucks and 2519 trucks as well as 60 buses and 30 minibuses in the mentioned month.

Tehran produced 989,110 cars in 2012, which made the country Asia's eighth largest car manufacturer. Iran also stood at the world's 18th place in the mentioned year.

The Islamic Republic's automobile output faced a 40 percent decrease in 2012 due to the sanctions. The country was Asia's fifth largest car manufacturer in 2011, with a total output of 1,648,505.

Western countries suspended certain sanctions against Iran as the Geneva nuclear deal came into force on January 20, 2014. Iran was permitted to import materials for its auto-manufacturing sector as a result of the nuclear deal implementation, which led to a sharp increase in the country's auto output.
