The Russian government has approved a draft agreement on cooperation in tourism sector with the Turkmen government, said a message posted on the official website of the Russian government.
According to the message, the draft agreement implies the development of cooperation in tourism sector, including the implementation of joint projects, drawing investments in tourism sector, carrying out information trips for tour operators, training professional personnel in tourism sector and cooperation within the World Tourism Organization.
"The signing of the agreement will allow forming the normative legal base of cooperation between the two countries in the tourism sector," the message said.
The tourism sector has a special place in Turkmenistan’s strategic plans. Avaza resort, which is the first free economic zone in the country, being built near the Caspian Sea, can be cited as an example. Investors, firms and companies working there are provided with tax and customs privileges.
The Great Silk Road passed through Turkmenistan. The country has a rich culture, diverse natural landscapes, unique archaeological monuments, including those that were included in the list of “World Cultural Heritage” by UNESCO.
