Azerbaijani banks’ liabilities to Central Bank decrease

The liabilities of Azerbaijani banks and non-bank credit organizations to the country’s Central Bank (CBA) decreased by 18.9 percent for the year and reached 5.72 billion manats as of January 1, 2018, according to the report of the country’s Financial Market Supervisory Authority for 2017.

The amount of liabilities decreased by 12.7 percent compared to the figure at the end of November 2017.

For comparison: in 2016, commercial banks' liabilities to the central bank amounted to 7.05 billion manats and in late November 2017 - 6.55 billion manats.

The amount of foreign liabilities of the central bank for the reporting period remained unchanged at 2.4 million manats.

The official international reserves of the central bank increased by 34.3 percent for the year - from $3.97 billion to $5.33 billion.

During the reporting period, the net liabilities of the central bank to the state decreased by almost 2.5 times compared to the same period of 2016 and amounted to 1.48 billion manats. For comparison: in 2016 the amount of liabilities amounted to 3.66 billion manats.
