Kazakhs receive more money from abroad

The volume of remittances received by individuals in Kazakhstan from abroad through the money transfer systems amounted to 220.5 billion tenge in January-August this year, Ranking.kz reported.

This is 15.2 percent more than in the same period last year.

Despite the increase in volume, the growth rate has declined – a year earlier, the growth in the same period was 18.8 percent.

As for the countries from which the remittances were made, Russia is the leader with 111.8 billion tenge. This is 0.5 percent less than in January-August 2017. The country's share decreased from 58.7 to 50.7 percent out of the total funds received by Kazakh individuals from abroad in the reporting period.

South Korea ranks second - 33.6 billion tenge were received from the country, which is an increase of 2.3 times. The country's share increased from 7.6 to 15.2 percent.

Kyrgyzstan is third - 18.4 billion tenge, growth by 67.8 percent for the year. The share rose from 5.7 to 8.4 percent.
