The project to support development of vocational education, implemented by the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs’ (Employers’) Organizations of Azerbaijan Republic (AEC), worth 20,000 euros, has been extended until 2021, the Vice President of the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs’ (Employers’) Organizations of Azerbaijan Republic Vugar Zeynalov told Trend.
The vice president noted that the project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the German Economic Development Fund (SEQUA GmbH), is aimed at strengthening cooperation between entrepreneurs and the vocational education system in order to increase employment among young people in Azerbaijan and to support staff qualifications’ improvement in accordance with the needs of the labor market.
"The first phase of the project will be completed in November of this year. The signing of a contract to extend the second phase of the project is expected to take place in January 2019. The project aims to expand the integration between employers and vocational and technical education system. It is envisaged that the project will be extended until 2021. We started this project three years ago (in 2015) in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development. At that time, the "Strategic Roadmap on the prospects of national economy of Azerbaijan", approved by the state to accelerate the process of forming an effective higher education system in the country, was not adopted yet," the vice president said.
Zeynalov noted that the establishment of close ties between entrepreneurs and higher education institutions is important for the development of national economy, and today a lot of work is being done at the state level to carry out reforms in the field of education aimed at supporting the expansion of the private sector.
The Confederation of Entrepreneurs’ (Employers’) Organizations of Azerbaijan Republic (AEC) was established on March 5, 1999 in Baku and passed the official state registration.
The AEC unites in its ranks over 1000 business entities, including 35 associations and unions of socio-economic profile.
