This Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), 90,000 tons of kiwi worth $90 million have been exported from Iran’s Mazandaran province, which is 300 percent more than last year, commercial director of Mazandaran Agriculture Jihad Organization Soleiman Hatamnejad said in an interview with IRNA, Trend reports.

He said that export of kiwi attracted the attention of businessmen, as it is economically beneficial.

He added that 180,000 tons of kiwi were harvested this year in the Mazandaran province.

Taking into account the quality of kiwi grown in the province, about 50 percent of this year’s harvest was exported, he said.

“During this period, kiwi was mainly exported to Iraq, Afghanistan and Central Asia,” he said.

He noted that about 15-20 tons of kiwi are harvested per hectare on average. Iran ranks fourth in world in terms of kiwi production.
