Azerbaijan-Iran economic turnover up by 74%

Last year (2018), the volume of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Iran increased by 74 percent, Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Shahin Mustafayev said at a joint meeting with Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Farhad Dejpasand, Trend reports referring to ISNA.

According to Mustafayev, the amount of trade turnover stood at about $450 million.

Mustafayev added that the meeting discussed the current state of relations between Azerbaijan and Iran.

"Discussions were made on the meeting of the joint commission on economic cooperation to be held in Baku on March 14-15," he said.

Stating that conditions have been created for the presence of Iranian companies in Azerbaijan, the minister said that there are 1,000 Iranian companies currently operating in Azerbaijan.

"Our goal is to create the necessary infrastructure to enhance cooperation," he said.

Stating that he is going to attend the opening ceremony of the Qazvin-Rasht railway, Mustafayev expressed hope for the soon construction and commission of the Rasht-Astara railway as well.
