Last Iran year (started March 21, 2018), the value of exports from the customs of Chabahar County and the Rimdan border market, both located in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province, exceeded $40 million, Hadi Akbari, Head of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Chabahar County of Sistan and Baluchestan, told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Akbari, about $30 million worth of goods were exported through the Chabahar customs, along with about $10 million worth of goods being exported through the Rimdan border market.

Compared with the preceding year, exports of goods through the Chabahar customs increased by 535 percent, while exports through the Rimdan border market decreased by 40 percent.

"Mostly construction materials, fuel, tiles, ceramics, dates and fruits have been exported to Pakistan," he said.

He said that the imports of goods through the customs and border markets declined by 78 percent last year.

Akbari added that $77 million worth of goods were imported to Iran last year through the Chabahar customs, which shows a 25-percent decline when compared to the figures from the preceding year, and said that the imports mainly consisted of industrial and household products, as well as spare parts.

"Last year, businessmen mainly focused on the import of products to the county. Therefore the county’s trade balance stands at $36 million," he said.

Akbari noted that $803 million have been allocated for non-oil exports of Sistan and Baluchestan Province in the 6th Development Program (2017-2021), and steps are being taken to meet this goal.
