About 117.7 million tons of products were manufactured in Iran's farm, gardening, livestock and fishing sectors, said Karim Ahmadi, an official with the Ministry of Agriculture of Iran, Trend reports citing Ministry.
According to Ahmadi, production decreased by 0.8 percent compared to 2 years ago (from March 21, 2017 to March 21, 2018).
Ahmadi added that the volume of farming production amounted to more than 81.2 million tons and this product was taken from 11.1 million hectares. Production decreased by 1.2 percent compared to 2 years ago.
The official said that wheat production was 13.3 million tons and was taken 5.4 million hectares. Wheat production accounted for 16.4 percent of farming production.
“Last year, 20.5 million tons of garden products were purchased from 2.46 million hectares and and did not change significantly compared to two years ago (21.3 million tons)," he said.
The official added that oranges (15.1 million tons), grapes (14.8 million tons), and apples (14.3 million tons) were the most commonly grown products.
Ahmadi said that production of protein foods was 14.7 million tons, and compared to 2 years ago (14.2 million tons), there was a 3.8 percent increase.
“About 829,000 tons of red meat (5.62 percent), 10.5 million tons of milk (71.7 percent), 2.3 million tons of chicken meat (15.9 percent), 901,000 tons of eggs (6.11 percent), and 90,000 tons of honey (0.61 percent) were produced," he said.
Ahmadi said that about 1.23 million tons of fishing products have been grown in the fishing industry.
