Industrial volume production in Azerbaijan up in January through May 2020

Azerbaijan has manufactured industrial products worth 15.5 billion manat ($9.1 billion) from January through May 2020, Trend reports referring to the country's State Statistical Committee.

According to the committee, the volume of industrial production has increased by 0.4 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

Output of industrial products in Azerbaijan’s non-oil sector increased by 14 percent.

Some 62 percent of industrial goods were produced in the extractive sector, 31.6 percent accounted for the processing sector, 5.6 percent - for the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam, and 0.8 percent – for the water supply, waste treatment and recycling.

Output in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 15.5 percent, and in the sector of water supply, waste treatment and recycling - by 3.1 percent.

The share of oil production in the extractive sector decreased by 1.5 percent, and commercial gas increased by 13 percent.

In the reporting period, manufacture of pharmaceuticals increased by 3.1 times, cars, trailers and semi-trailers – by 2.3 times, metallurgical products – by 2.2 times, computer, electronic and optical products – by 94.6 percent, wood processing and manufacture of wood products - by 57.2 percent, other vehicles - by 37.6 percent, electrical equipment - by 26.5 percent, chemical products - by 24.6 percent, finished metal products - by 7.4 percent, drinks - by 2.9 percent, petroleum products – by 2 percent, printing products – by 1.8 percent, food products – by 1.8 percent, and textile products – by 1 percent.

Furthermore, in the first five months of 2020, the production of furniture slipped by 1.5 percent, machinery and equipment - by 8.2 percent, building materials - by 9.3 percent, output of leather and its products, shoes - by 37.2 percent, installation and repair of machinery and equipment - by 44.2 percent.
