Iranian municipalities in cities with population of 50,000 or less are obligated to compile one project plan until 2021 and send it to the government, to receive state support, the country's Deputy Interior Minister Mehdi Jamali said, Trend reports via IRNA.

"The projects that have design and plans will be supported," he said.

"The priority of providing loans on waste water management belongs to cities in north of the country," said Jamali.

He pointed out that local municipalities in these cities can use capacities of regional companies to reduce costs of water management.

"Municipalities and provincial authorities will be supported with regards to necessary equipment," said Jamali.

"More than 25 provinces were challenged by flood and 160,000 houses were destroyed during the last Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), while gasoline rationing, coronavirus spread and sanctions made the situation even more difficult," he said.

Jamali added that a total of 40,000 new project have been envisaged in the past Iranian year, and 30,000 of them have already been launched.

"The municipalities have capacity to prepare grounds for attracting private sector's investment," he said.
