Iran concerned with nuclear activity of neighboring countries

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi has announced the review of nuclear activities of the neighboring countries during the meeting of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament, Trend reports via IRNA.

He also said that the Supreme National Security Council of Iran should issue a statement on the causes of the sabotage at the Natanz nuclear site.

"While attending the meetings of the commission, I presented a report on the progress of Iran`s nuclear industry to the members of the parliament,” Salehi said on the sidelines of the meeting with the members of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Parliament.

Salehi noted that the United Arab Emirates has launched the first nuclear reactor and is supposed to have four more nuclear reactors.

“Saudi Arabia has also made a serious decision to made steps towards a nuclear program, and Turkey has begun very extensive activities on construction of the power plant,” said the head of AEOI.

He went on to say that the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission is seeking consultations with the Atomic Energy Organization to assess the security dimension of these issues.

In response to a question about the recent sabotage at the Natanz nuclear site, Salehi said that the incident was already discussed and clarified at the previous meetings of the commission.

“The AEOI has initiated the necessary measures from the day the incident happened,” said Salehi.
