Iran exported 3.05 million tons of agricultural and food products worth $2.13 billion during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 20-August 21, 2020), Trend reports citing the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

According to the report, over 5 months, 2.05 million tons of vegetables and melons (watermelon, muskmelon, etc.) worth $857 million, and 1.03 million tons of greens worth $432 million were exported.

“During the reporting period, Iran exported 721,000 tons of melons worth $166 million and 395,000 tons of tomatoes worth $218 million,” the report said.

Also, 202,000 tons of potatoes worth $53 million, 101,000 tons of onions and garlic worth $37 million were exported within five months, the report noted.

According to the report, 36,000 tons of medicinal plants worth $36 million were also exported.

“At the same time, 633,000 tons of horticultural products worth $833 million were exported in five months,” the report added.

Within 5 months, Iran exported 44,000 tons of pistachios worth $318 million, 77 tons of saffron worth $67 million, and 65,000 tons of dates worth $58 million.

During the same period, Iran exported 151,000 tons of apples worth $56 million and 44,000 tons of grapes worth $55 million, according to the report.

“Also, 3,000 tons of Iranian tea worth $3.5 million were exported in five months,” the report noted.

According to the report, 324,000 tons of products in livestock and poultry sectors worth $341 million were exported.

Iran exported 158,000 tons of milk and dairy products worth $144 million, 42,000 tons of chicken meat worth $55 million, and 49,000 tons of chicken eggs worth $31 million over the reporting period.

“Meanwhile, 41,000 tons of fish and fishery products worth $85 million were exported,” the report said.

According to the report, Iran exported 3,600 tons of tuna worth $8 million, 2,280 tons of shrimp worth $7 million, and 130 tons of trout worth $465,000 in 5 months.

“In addition, 34,000 tons of other fishery products worth $69 million and 380 kilograms of caviar worth $ 29,000 were exported,” the report said.
