Iran unveils details of agricultural exports-imports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20

Iran exported 1.97 million tons of agricultural products worth $896 million during the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2021), the Deputy Minister Agriculture Jihad of Iran Ahmad Ali Keykha said, Trend reports citing the ministry.

According to Keykha, the exports of agricultural products increased by 2 percent in terms of value and 20 percent in terms of volume.

"The most exported products in terms of volume were watermelon, tomato, potato, apple and melon. While in terms of value, watermelons worth $126 million, pistachios worth $122 million, tomatoes worth $102 million, apples worth $56 million and dates worth $42 million were exported," he said.

The deputy minister added that moreover, Iran imported 4 million tons of agricultural products worth $2.2 billion in the two months.

Keykha noted that the most imported products in terms of volume were corn feed, wheat, barley, compressed soybeans and raw sugar. While in terms of value, the most imported agricultural products were corn feed worth $334 million, sunflower oil worth $265 million, compressed soybeans worth $230 million, wheat worth $195 million and soybean seeds worth $175 million.
