TEHRAN, Iran, Dec. 6

Trend:

Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade Mehdi Sadeghi Niyaraki has predicted a 50-percent growth in the country's car manufacturing, Trend reports citing IRNA.

In 2022, the passenger cars production in Iran resulted in 1.42 million units. The peak import level was reached in 2014, when 103,000 cars have been imported into the country.

"In 2017, Iran's import of cars stood at 70,000 units. The same year over 1.55 million cars were manufactured in Iran," Niyaraki said.

He predicted that over one million vehicles will be produced by the end of the current Iranian year (ends on March 21, 2022).

The Iranian government has put a ban on importing cars into the country two years ago. Iran's parliament in the meantime is preparing to bring up the issue, and to ask to resume import of vehicles.
