Turkmenistan value of export to EU countries falls in 3Q2021

Turkmenistan’s total exports to the EU countries amounted at $50.26 million in 3Q2021, Trend reports with reference to the IMF report.

The figure is compared to $56.24 million over the same period in 2020.

Turkmenistan's exports to Italy totaled $16.23 million during the reporting period, a significant decrease from July through September 2020 ($51.53 million).

Turkmen exports to Spain, on the other hand, increased from $1.58 million in the third quarter of 2020 to $8.17 million in the same period of 2021.

Turkmenistan’s main exports to EU countries include oil, food and live animals, chemical and related prod, crude materials, mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials.

Earlier Eurostat told Trend that the total volume of oil products exported from Turkmenistan to the EU from January through June 2021 accounted for 1,535 tons worth 4.6 million Euros. Turkmenistan mainly exports oil products to Austria, Belgium (incl. Luxemburg), Czechia, Germany, Estonia, France, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Latvia, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and Slovakia.

Agriculture is one of Turkmenistan's developed industries. The country's export potential in the supply of agricultural products to third-country markets is growing.

Directory of Exporters of Fruit and Vegetable Products in Central Asia names at least 15 different types of fruit and vegetable products that are exported by Turkmen agro businesses and is in high demand in some European countries.

Many Turkmen farmers are eager to expand their market beyond the region. Turkmen entrepreneurs are increasingly engaged in greenhouse construction in order to increase agricultural product exports.
