The private sector of Turkmenistan’s Lebap region exported 1,277 tons of bituminous mastic in January this year, Trend reports citing the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
The region’s entrepreneurs sold 488 tons of fresh tomatoes, 850 tons of millet fodder, 1,277 tons of bituminous mastic, and 42 tons of regenerated cotton fiber in the first month of the year in the export customs order.
The agency also stressed that the indicators of the region's state enterprises in the export of cotton yarn, licorice root, and various products derived from it are improving.
Last year, the agrarians of the region harvested more than 13,600 tons of tomatoes, more than 22,500 tons of onions, more than 4,500 tons of cabbage and 42,000 tons of gourds.
Lebap region of Turkmenistan, which shares borders with Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, has undergone dramatic changes associated with industrial diversification and modernization, the development of the richest natural resources and the intensive development of the transport system.
Cotton growing, melon growing, grain growing, sericulture and animal breeding are all developed in the region. Lebap is the country’s leader in the production of silk fabrics and cotton.
