Growth rate of agriculture production makes 7.5%

“From January to November 2005 the growth rate of the production of the agriculture product comprised 7.5%,” Ismat Abbasov, the Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister, told Trend.

According to Abbasov, the figure made up 4.8% in 2004.

“The high figure was observed in wine-growing, cotton-growing. Potato production first reached record figure i.e. over 1m tons,” the Minister underlined.

Abbasov also noted that necessity of refinery enterprise increases depend on production growth.

Besides, different measures, including purchase of technique and fertilizing for farmers at expense of state fund, are taken within the state program on social and economic development of the regions.

Abbasov underlined that they planned to allocate credits through the newly-established State Agricultural Credits Agency under the Agriculture Ministry to develop agrarian sphere. “The fund for credits has not been allocated yet, but the issue will be solved soon,” he concluded.
