Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr I. Khalilova / The Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan (MED) informed that the State Antimonopoly Department at the MED is to hold monitoring at the markets in order to prevent price fixing, as the country's legislation specifies.

The MED rejects the economists' suppositions on the forthcoming rise in consumer goods prices on the eve of holidays.

"It is such kind of considerations that causes price fixing. Rise in prices for consumer goods including food that are not related to the rise in energy prices made the Antimonopoly Office to start monitoring the consumer market," the Ministry stated.

The investigation held by the Department revealed that the prices of agricultural products were increased before rise in energy prices. So, the transportation charges cannot considerably affect the prime cost. The rise in energy prices in business units from AZN 0,059 to AZN 0,06 per KW cannot cause such rise.

The prices of agriculture products change depending on the seasonal factors.
