Petrol prices increase in Uzbekistan from July 1

Prices on gasoline increased by 15 percent in Uzbekistan July 1, an Uznefteprodukt source told Trend today.

Retail prices on AI-80 gasoline increased by 1,220 soum per liter.

Prices on AI-91 gasoline are set at 1,350 soum, and 1,500 soum on AI-95 gasoline.

Prices on diesel fuel increased from 1,065 soum to 1,220 soum per liter.

Retail prices include tax and gasoline consumption at 145 soum per liter.

This is the second increase in gasoline prices since early 2010.

Earlier, the price slightly increased Jan. 1.

Gasoline prices remained unchanged in 2009. Prices on automobile fuel increased by 14-22 percent depending on the brand in September 2008.

Uzbekistan stopped crude oil imports and announced oil independence in 1995.

However, due to well depletion, oil production reduced.

Uzbekistan has purchased oil from the Kumkol Field in southern Kazakhstan for processing at the Fergana Refinery since 2003.

Oil and gas condensate is processed at the Fergana, Altiariksk and Bukhara refineries in Uzbekistan.

The Fergana and Altiarik factories produce fuel and oil with a processing capacity of 5.5 and 3.2 million tons of oil per year.

High-quality gasoline, kerosene and diesel fuel are produced at the Bukhara Refinery. Its designed processing capacity is 2.5 tons of gas condensate per year.

Uzbekneftegaz is the Uzbek oil and gas industry monopoly operator. It was established in 1998 and brings together six joint stock companies.

On July 1, the official exchange rate is 1,595 soum per $1.
