The work within the contract signed between SOCAR's Azerigas production association and Global Services will be accelerated, SOCAR told Trend today.
Global Services won the open tender on June 14 to purchase the work on gasification and gas supply improvement.
According to the information, a decision to bring a contractor to carry out the necessary work was taken to accelerate the gasification process and plans to bring its level up to 95 per cent.
Previously, all work within the gasification process was conducted by the production association independently. A decision was made to allocate additional funds from the state budget, as well as the contractor's involvement to speed up the process, the source said.
"All this is necessary to accelerate the gasification process," SOCAR said.
As of July 1, the level of gasification in the country was 76.2 per cent (1.403.049 subscribers). The level in Baku is 96.2 per cent (632,068 subscribers) and in the regions - 65.2 per cent (770,981 subscribers).
'About 463,514 apartments are planned to be provided with gas in various regions of the country by late 2013', a statement said.
It is planned to lay 1877 kilometres of pipes with a diameter of 32-530 mm and 19,377 kilometres of pipes with a diameter of 25-400 mm within the operations. It is planned to install 463,514 gas meters (48,145 pre-paid card meters and 415,369 mechanical meters) and lay 20,896 kilometres of pipes with a diameter of 20-25 millimetres.
Around 439,189 units of private gas regulators, 1162 gas pressure regulating boxes and new regulatory and control equipment are planned to be installed at 80 gas distribution stations.
Azerigaz deals with the transportation and sale of gas across Azerbaijan.
