SOCAR negotiating with Turkmenistan to import gasoline

Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR is negotiating on the gasoline import from Turkmenistan, SOCAR told Trend on Oct. 10.

Presently, there is no final agreement, and negotiations with Turkmenistan continue, the company said refusing to disclose the details of the negotiations.

Talking about the negotiations on the gasoline import in general, SOCAR mentioned that negotiations are underway with different suppliers, and a part of the supply is already being delivered.

Presently, modernization of the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery is underway and will be completed in 2021. After modernization, the refinery’s production capacity will increase from six million to eight million tons per year and the operational period will be extended to 2040.

The Baku Refinery’s modernization will cost nearly $2.2 billion.
