Iran provides over 50% of oil bitumen imports to Georgia

The import of oil bitumen to Georgia amounted to 19,800 tons in October 2019, which is 200 tons less than in September 2019, Trend reports referring to the Georgian Oil Products Importers Union.

Meanwhile, 10,700 tons (54 percent) of these imports accounted for the Islamic Republic of Iran, followed by Iraq with 5,200 tons (26.3 percent), Azerbaijan – 3,700 tons (18.7 percent), Turkey – 100 tons (0.5 percent).

In September 2019, the import of oil bitumen to Georgia amounted to 20,000 tons, which is 7,500 tons less than in August.

Import of oil bitumen from January through October of the current year amounted to 150,300 tons, which is 73,000 tons more than for the same period last year.

According to the Georgian Oil Products Importers Union, over the past 15 years, oil bitumen imports have been at a record high this year.

The import of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) to Georgia in October 2019 amounted to 1,600 tons, which is similar to the figure for September 2019.

The import of liquefied petroleum gas to Georgia in September 2019 amounted to 1,600 tons, which is 500 tons less than in August.

Import of liquefied petroleum gas from January through October this year amounted to 14,300 tons, which is 2,400 tons more than the same period last year (11,900 tons).

Import of liquefied petroleum gas has also increased significantly due to its use as a motor fuel. At present, Georgia has about 200 petrol stations with liquefied gas.
