ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 24. The China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) will accelerate the construction of the D branch of the gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China, Trend reports.

The design capacity of the fourth gas pipeline line will amount to 30 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year, which will significantly increase the availability and reliability of energy supplies.

The pipeline originates from the Galkynysh supergiant field and will proceed to China through Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

According to CNPC, 42 billion cubic meters of natural gas were delivered to China last year through the existing branches of the gas pipeline.

Furthermore, since the opening in 2009 and until the end of 2022, 423 billion cubic meters of natural gas have been transported through the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, which provided energy to more than 500 million residents in 27 regions of China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Meanwhile, earlier, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed during talks in Beijing to accelerate the construction of this gas pipeline line.
