Uzbekistan, Israel plan to restore bilateral tourism

Uzbekistan and Israel plan to resume flight on the route Tel Aviv-Tashkent from June 25, 2020, Trend reports citing the State Committee of Uzbekistan on Tourism Development.

Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov discussed prospects for restoring toursim between the two countries with Ambassador Israel to Turkmenista Eduard Shapiro during a meeting at the State Committee of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development.

The Israeli ambassador was introduced to the new system of sanitary-epidemiological safety for tourists in Uzbekistan entitled "Safe travel guaranteed". It was noted that the main purpose of the new system is to ensure a comfortable stay for tourists with an increased level of safety.

It is reported that on the decision of the Special Republican Commission, starting from June 15 this year, Uzbekistan will resume air communication with countries where there is an improvement in the situation with the coronavirus.

Israel is part of the group of countries with a stable sanitary and epidemiological situation, from where "green flights" will be organized, and the passengers arriving from Israel will not be quarantined upon arrival in Uzbekistan.

Abdukhakimov confirmed the willingness of the Uzbek side to begin work to restore bilateral tourism, and ensure maximum comfort and security for Israeli tourists in case of resumption of international flights between the two countries.

He noted that the Embassy of Israel is interested and ready to take all necessary measures to restore the level of tourist flow before the pandemic.

Shapira proposed to start a negotiation process between the aviation authorities of the two countries on resuming air services as soon as possible, to promptly work out organizational issues and measures to ensure passenger safety.

He also emphasized that the embassy and the Israeli Ministry of Tourism are ready to provide all possible assistance to make Uzbekistan one of the first countries to receive Israeli tourists.

The diplomat conveyed the request of the Israeli side to assist in organizing the first flight from Tashkent to Tel Aviv on June 25, 2020.

The Uzbek side expressed its readiness to consider this issue as soon as possible.
