Kazakhstan reports decreases in cargo transportation volumes year-on-year

A total of 369.5 million tons of cargo was transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in Nov. 2020, which is 4.7 percent less than in Nov. 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of cargo transported over 11 months of 2020 amounted to 3.5 billion tons, which is 6.8 percent less year-on-year compared to 3.8 billion tons over the same period of last year.

Thus, the majority of the cargo was transported in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region. The volume of cargo transported in the region amounted to 71.3 million tons in November and 663.6 million tons in over 11 months of 2020, which is 13.3 percent and 15.1 percent less than during the same period last year, respectively.

Karaganda region is followed by the East Kazakhstan region with 60.8 million tons transported in Nov. 2020 (decrease of 1.7 percent compared to Nov. 2019). The volume of cargo transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 587.1 million tons, which compared to 598.4 million during the same period last year, indicates a 1.9-percent decrease.

Kostanay region takes third place country-wide by the cargo transported in Nov. 2020 (32.03 million tons, up by 10.7 percent). The volume of cargo transported in the region over 11 months of 2020 amounted to 279.9 million tons, which is 4.3 percent less than during the same period last year (292.5 million tons).

The least cargo volume was transported in the West Kazakhstan region. The transported cargo volume stood at 4.4 million tons of cargo in Nov. 2020, which is 18 percent more than in Nov. 2019. The volume of cargo transported over 11 months of 2020 was 36.9 million tons, which is 2.9 percent more year-on-year.
