BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 12. Middle Corridor Multimodal, a company created by Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia as a single operator of transport communication along the Middle Corridor, may later include Türkiye, Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Transport Satzhan Ablaliyev exclusively told Trend.

"Middle Corridor Multimodal" company was registered in AIFC (Astana International Financial Center) at the end of 2023. The process of registration is underway. This company, a single transport operator of three countries on the Middle Corridor, will officially start its work at the end of 2024, which will have a positive impact on the efficiency of the Middle Corridor. In the future, we want to include Türkiye in this company," Ablaliyev said.

According to him, Türkiye's participation in the Middle Corridor Multimodal Company is logical, as the expansion of the capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway route is being completed (increase from 1 million tons of cargo per year to 5 million tons per year), and this fact is very important for the Middle Corridor, as it concerns the increase of cargo transportation from/to Türkiye and transit of European and Chinese cargoes through Türkiye.

To note, the Middle Corridor celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2024.

A total of 2.75 million tons of cargo passed through it in 2023, and plans for this year are for over 4 million tons.

The Middle Corridor through the Caspian Sea will be able to transport 10 million tons of cargo per year within a few years.
