BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22. Kazakhstan started to export its fuel oil to Tallinn, Estonia last October bypassing Russia with further delivery to Europe, Trend reports referring to the latest review of the Argus, an independent analytical company.

As such, railway shipments of Kazakh fuel oil to Tallinn from October to December 2022 totaled 31,700 tons, whereas previously such deliveries were not carried out at all.

In Tallinn, Kazakh fuel oil was further delivered to Europe by local Estonian trading companies via tankers.

According to the report, Estonia mainly receives fuel oil produced by mini-refineries in the west and south of Kazakhstan. Some of these volumes were redirected from Novorossiysk (Russia) due to a large number of rail cars and the introduction of conventional bans on transportation in this direction (EU's restrictive measures against Russia).

Furthermore, as Argus expects, fuel oil export from Kazakhstan's largest refineries this year may reach 2.2-2.5 million tons. For comparison, these figures in 2022 stood at 2.19 million tons, and in 2021 - at 1.61 million tons.

Meanwhile, the main route for Kazakh oil to be transported bypassing Russia remains through Azerbaijan's Baku. Oil supplies from the Caspian Sea port of Aktau to Azerbaijan's Baku increased to 163,436 tonnes from January through March, up from 28,875 tons in the same time in 2022.
