ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 9. Kazakhstan will reconstruct the runway at Astana Airport, Trend reports.
This topic was discussed at a meeting chaired by Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev.
The airport's existing runway put into operation 20 years ago, and until now only routine repairs of the airfield pavements have been carried out.
The reconstruction of the runway was one of the main and primary tasks when transferring the airport to trust management of the investor. Terminals Holding (the UAE) airport management company informed about the upcoming schedule of preparatory, construction and installation work. According to the plan, the start of reconstruction is scheduled for the end of March 2024.
The project will be implemented using private funds from the investor and will be completed in the spring of 2025.
It was noted that the reconstruction of the runway will improve flight safety and help increase the transit potential of the air harbor.
On October 18, 2023, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov has signed an agreement with the Terminals Holding company from the UAE as part of a visit to the Turkestan region.
The investor undertook to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the activities of the capital’s airport and subsequently take over operational management to improve the quality of passenger service and the efficiency of the air harbor as a whole.
The investor's primary task is to prepare the runway for reconstruction and its further modernization.
