ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 2. The current account balance in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries has decreased from January through September 2023, Trend reports.
According to the data from the EAEU, a positive current account balance for the above period was observed only in Russia, decreasing by 79.9 percent compared to the same period in 2022.
At the same time, the current account deficit in Kyrgyzstan increased by 1.5 times. In Armenia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, the account balance became negative.
In addition, in the first three quarters of 2023, the positive balance of trade in goods in Kazakhstan decreased by half, with an increase in turnover of 3.3 percent. In Kyrgyzstan, there was an increase in the negative balance by 28 percent and the turnover of trade in goods by 30.6 percent. In Russia, the positive balance of trade in goods decreased by 64.3 percent and turnover by 15.3 percent.
Moreover, the turnover of trade in services in Armenia increased by 45.3 percent and the positive balance by 57.2 percent. In Belarus, turnover increased by 1.6 percent, and the positive balance decreased by 33.6 percent.
At the same time, in Kazakhstan, the negative balance increased by 57.6 percent and the turnover of trade in services by 35.4 percent. In Kyrgyzstan, turnover increased by 92.1 percent, and the negative balance decreased by 2.4 times. In Russia, the negative balance of trade in services increased 1.9 times, and the turnover of services decreased by 0.6 percent.
From January through September 2023, Armenia and Kazakhstan demonstrated record levels of foreign trade in goods and services compared to similar periods since the beginning of integration. In Russia, the maximum values of indicators were observed in 2013.
In addition, in terms of direct investment during the reporting period, all member states except Russia experienced an influx into the country.
