ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 5. The use of MasterCard Worldwide payment cards in Kazakhstan has decreased over the past 5 years, Trend reports.
The data from the Central Bank of Kazakhstan shows that as of January 1, 2024, 2.88 million MasterCard cards were used in Kazakhstan, while as of January 1, 2019, 3.78 million cards were used.

Meanwhile, the number of MasterCard cards in circulation in Kazakhstan as of January 1, 2024, amounted to 10.7 million, which is 53 percent more than on January 1, 2019 (6.98 million).
Notably, as of January 1, 2024, Kazakhstan had 74.5 million payment cards in use. Debit cards account for 8.8 percent of all payment cards in the country, with credit cards accounting for 16.4 percent. Debit cards with credit limitations and prepaid cards comprise 2.8 percent of the total.
