BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, December 25. A total of 1.083 million tons of black coal were exported from Kyrgyzstan from January through October 2023, which is a 73.7-percent increase compared to the same period in 2022 (623,749 tons), Trend reports.
Data from the country’s State Statistical Committee indicates that the value of these exports reached $42.527 million, increasing by 67.3 percent compared to January through October 2022 ($25.420 million).
The largest quantity of black coal was exported to Uzbekistan, totaling 895,453 tons, valued at $30.962 million. Additionally, 78,985 tons were exported to Romania, amounting to $5.306 million. Furthermore, the Netherlands received 37,268 tons of black coal valued at $2.165 million.
In addition to these main destinations, exports were also made to Kazakhstan (19,306 tons), Slovakia (16,329 tons), Türkiye (13,422 tons), Poland (10,758 tons), Hungary (6,389 tons), and China (5,299 tons).
Kyrgyzstan's total foreign trade turnover was $12.297 billion from January through October 2023, up 24.9 percent from $9.845 billion in the same period in 2022.
Kyrgyzstan's exports stood at $2.443 billion for the 10-month period, a 29.6-percent increase over the $1.885 billion recorded from January through October 2022. Imports into Kyrgyzstan totaled $9.854 billion during this period, a 23.8% increase over the same period in 2022 ($7.959 billion).
