Belarus to supply Turkmenistan with agricultural machinery

Association of Food Industry of Turkmenistan and 'Turkmen agricultural service' State Association will sign a contract with Minsk Tractor Plant (Belarus) on purchase of tractors of 'Belarus' brand and spare parts for them.
President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a relevant decree.
Mr Berdimuhamedov stressed at the last governmental meeting that comprehensive modernization and building-up material-technical base of agricultural industry is one of the key areas of the ongoing reform of agriculture.
He noted the domestic agricultural sector faces the task of further increasing productivity of the agricultural production. The head of the state also pointed out to the need of ensuring proper level of preparation for upcoming in near future field work, including preparation for work on sowing cotton and other agricultural activities.
Turkmenistan procured over 1.5 million tons of raw cotton in 2011 and there are similar plans for 2012. Traditionally, the country exports it to China, Russia, Britain, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine and the Baltic countries. The country sewed 860,000 hectares of fields, from which 1.6 million tons of food grains will be harvested in 2012.
