President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expects the country to receive a high volume of grain harvest, following his trip to Lebap region, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal Information Portal.
President of Turkmenistan went to Lebap region in order to get acquainted with the agricultural work carried out in the region, in particular with the field condition, the opportunities provided to farmers, as well as the volume of grown crops.
During his visit to the one of the farms, which had an area of 20 hectares, a farmer thanked the president for state’s support. The president said that he expects to receive 40-45 quintals of grain per hectare from the farm.
Also, the head of the state checked the workflow of grain harvesting using the farming equipment, in particular CLAAS and John Deere farming machinery. The president noted that such special equipment helps to increase productivity.
The president was shown high-yielding, disease-resistant and precocious varieties of cotton, winter wheat and other cereals, that were bred taking into account soil and climate conditions of the region.
Berdimuhamedov also got acquainted with the work on another plot of land, specializing in growing vegetables and potatoes. Farmer of the mentioned land said that they have sown Gala variety of potatoes on an area of 370 hectares, where 200 quintals per hectare is expected to be harvested.
