Utility tariffs increased in Uzbekistan

Electricity tariffs have increased by 6.95 per cent, natural gas for domestic and commercial customers by 8.5 per cent, central heating and hot water by 6.4 per cent and cold water by 3.5 per cent in Uzbekistan from October 1.

Electricity tariffs have increased by 6.95 per cent, natural gas for domestic and commercial customers by 8.5 per cent, central heating and hot water by 6.4 per cent and cold water by 3.5 per cent in Uzbekistan from October 1.

Earlier this year, the tariffs for these kinds of utilities increased in Uzbekistan in April 2013. At that time tariffs for electricity consumption increased by 7.4 per cent, gas by 14 per cent, central heating and hot and cold water by 13.5 per cent.

This means electricity prices have increased by 14.35 per cent, gas by 22.5 per cent, hot water and heating by 19.9 per cent and cold water - 17 per cent since early 2013.

It was previously reported that electricity prices increased by 14 per cent, natural gas by 28 per cent, central heating and hot water by 25.9 per cent and cold water - 18.4 per cent in 2012.

The official exchange rate is 2.152.51 soums/$ 1 on Oct. 1.
