TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 23. Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $44.8 billion from January through September of 2023, Trend reports.
As per Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee, the recorded number is 22.1 percent, or $8.1 billion, greater than the volume fixed in the same period last year.
The agency’s analysts state that such a boost is a result of the measures implemented by Uzbekistan in recent years to stimulate exports, optimize imports, and, in general, ensure the balance of foreign trade.
Specifically, the measures aimed at enhancing export capabilities are said to provide local firms with opportunities to accumulate greater knowledge in international markets, ultimately granting them a competitive edge in the global trade arena.
Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover volume saw exports reach $17,739.4 million from January through September 2023, marking a 22.1 percent increase, while imports reached $27,014.8 million, a 21.2 percent increase. This resulted in a negative balance of $9,275.4 million in foreign trade turnover.
Currently, Uzbekistan conducts trade relations with 193 countries globally. The most substantial foreign trade turnover was recorded with China (21.1 percent), Russia (15.7 percent), Kazakhstan (7.2 percent), Turkey (5.3 percent), and the Republic of Korea (3.8 percent).
