(IranMania) - Iranian MP Mohammad Qomi of the Majlis Energy Committee said that the Oil Ministry is preparing regulations for the transfer of some of its sections to the private sector, MNA reported.

In line with the decree issued by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in early July, the ministry is planning to privatize gas, oil, and petrochemical sections, Qomi told the Mehr News Agency.

The plan aims to privatize state industries, amending an article of the constitution that had banned private ownership of state institutions, reports Trend.

Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh submitted a report on the situation of oil drilling, acquisition, and extraction in the country to the parliamentary committee on Tuesday, indicating satisfactory progress in this area, Qomi said.

Most Majlis Energy Committee members are calling for subsidies on gasoline to be maintained, justifying this by saying that people are under increasing pressure from dollar-based costs while they receive their salaries in rials, he added.

The committee members believe that people are pressured by the increase in gasoline prices plus the problem of dual prices, he noted.
