(IRNA) -- Several members of the European Parliament have (MEPs) examined the Iran nuclear issue and concluded that after three years of debates on Iran's nuclear program the issue has now become a test-case for "Crisis Prevention through Multilateral Diplomacy."
The MEPs, including those from Poland and the Czech Republic, said they reject any non-peaceful methods or options to settle Iran's nuclear issue, and added that they consider the threat to use such options as counter-productive in solving the problem.
They noted that IAEA Director General Dr Mohammad ElBaradei had issued statements to the effect that no diversion had been detected in the Iranian nuclear program, reports Trend.
Nonetheless, they called on Iran to continue its full cooperation with the IAEA in order to resolve all questions and ambiguities over its nuclear program.
Endorsing the EU Council stand, they said they fully support the "Middle East free of WMDs" initiative.
Recognizing that multilateralism is the only effective means of boosting international peace and security, the MEPs said they welcomed the involvement of Russia and China, and any other willing country for that matter, in current efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue.
Recalling the package of incentives offered recently by the 5+1 Group and the Iranian reply to the offer, they called on all parties involved in this sensitive question to consider all initiatives quite seriously and give diplomacy an adequate chance to succeed as well as avoid more violence in the Middle East.
