( Irna ) - Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said here Tuesday that Iran and France enjoy good potentials to hold consultations and help settle ongoing crises in the region.

Speaking to IRNA, he pointed to a meeting held between Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and French foreign minister's special envoy for Lebanese affairs Jean Claude Kosran on Wednesday.

"It was the second visit by France's special envoy to Iran since last year," he said.

He added that the visit took place in line with regular political talks and consultations between Tehran and Paris on regional issues, with Lebanon being the centerpiece.

"Continuation of such talks can prepare an appropriate groundwork for establishment of regional stability and prevention of the mounting crises," the spokesman said.
