Drop in Iran's gas-to-power in 3.5 months

Iran's gas deliveries to power plants decreased by 5 percent to 11.865 billion cubic meters (bcm) during 107 days of current fiscal year, started on March 21.

According to the latest statistics of Iran's Energy Ministry, published on June 14, the oil gas and fuel oil consumption of power plants also decreased by 27.1 percent and 12.1 percent to 218 million liters and 540 million liters during the mentioned time.

Declining gas deliveries to power sector happened in the first 3.5 months of current fiscal year, while Iran has planned to increase gas deliveries to power plants by 7 bcm to 65 bcm in current fiscal year.

The report, published on the ministry's official website, said that about 54,563 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) electricity was generated in 3.5 months, of which 706 million kWh was exported.
Iran's electricity export decreased by 60 percent year-to-year, while during the 107 days of current fiscal year, Iran increased electricity imports by 4 percent to 1,063 million kWh, the report said.

During the mentioned time, the country increased power generation capacity by 508 megawatts (MW) to 74,603 MW.
