Loans of Iranian banks to industrial and mining sectors increase

Loans issued by Iranian banks and financial institutions to Iran’s mining and industrial sector increased by 41.5 percent during the 3 months (21 March - 21 June) of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2019), compared to the same period last year, as can be inferred from the 3-month report of the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, Trend reports referring to Shata News Agency.

The total amount of loans during the first 2 months was 923 trillion rials (app. $21.9 billion), and 300 trillion rials (app. $7.14 billion) during the first 3 months.

A total of 117 trillion rials (app. $2.78 billion) was also allocated for the commercial sector. The increase in this sector was at 20.6 percent.

According to the ministry, exports of non-oil products in Iran over the past 3 months amounted to 40.4 million tons and was worth $11.5 billion. This figure increased by 44.6 percent, compared to the same period last year, and dropped by 10.23 percent in terms of dollar value.

Moreover, imports of goods to Iran amounted to 8.9 million tons worth $10.3 billion. Imports rose by 5.9 percent in terms of weight and by 8.7 percent in dollar terms.

According to statistics, the commissioning of 1,310 projects was licensed for attaining 92 trillion rials (app. $2.19 billion) of investments and the employment of 21,982,000 people. Compared to the same period last year, the number of licenses issued was 15.3 percent; investments increased by 64.8 percent and employment decreased by 4 percent.

Also, the commissioning of 5,919 projects was licensed for attaining 574 trillion rials (app. $13.6 billion) of investments and the employment of over 138,000 people. Compared to the same period last year, this figure increased by 26 percent in terms of the number of projects and by 28 percent in terms of employment, dropping 4.6 percent in terms of investment.
