Iran trying to diversify its economic ties

Iran has been trying to have balanced foreign policy, as the government has put regional projects into priority, said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh, Trend reports via IRNA.

"Iran would not ask anyone about diversifying its economic and foreign relations but it has its own priorities," he said.

Speaking of the Iran-Pakistan 'Peace pipeline', Khatibzadeh said that more than 80 percent of it has been completed, yet Pakistan hasn't done any considerable work on its part.

"This contract has been extended for five more years and we hope the pipeline would eventually be launched," he said.

Khatibzadeh also reminded about Iran's strategic cooperation with Afghanistan, saying that a new agreement signed between the two sides would be finalized soon.
