Iran's exports of iron ore pellets and concentrate increase

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9. Exports of iron ore pellets and concentrates from Iran increased by 125 percent in value terms and 160 percent in weight terms in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, through March 19, 2024) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2022, through March 20, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Polas Association of Producers said, Trend reports.

According to the statistics, exports of iron ore pellets and concentrates from the last Iranian year totaled 17.2 million tons worth $1.7 billion.

The statistics show that the previous year's exports of iron ore pellets and concentrate from Iran amounted to 6.61 million tons worth $757 million.

The information shows that iron ore pellet exports from Iran last year amounted to about 10.5 million tons worth about $1.1 billion. The figure increased by 65.4 percent in value terms and 84 percent in weight terms compared to the previous year.

Based on statistics, Iran's iron ore pellet exports amounted to 5.68 million tons worth $662 million in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, Iran's iron ore concentrate exports were 6.69 million tons worth $609 million last year. This is a 539 percent increase in value and a 621 percent rise in weight compared to the previous year.

However, in the same period of the previous year, Iran exported 928,000 tons of iron ore concentrate worth $95 million.

To note, Iran produces an average of 50 million tons of iron ore pellets annually.

Nevertheless, Iran can produce an average of 100 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year.
