Trend Agency has hosted a meeting with famous Lithuanian journalists Rytas Staselis and Terese Staniulyte.

The journalists said they are in Baku within the international program of trainings on business journalism and got acquainted with the sights of the capital.

Terese Staniulyte said the trainings on business journalism were very successful. The journalist also noted that she is overwhelmed with positive emotions from her stay in the Azerbaijani capital, where tourism is developing based on originality, traditions and culture.

Staselis, for his part, said that he several times visited different parts of Azerbaijan in the late 1980s – early 1990s. He visited Ganja, Nakhchivan, Khojaly and Khankandi at the beginning of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and repeatedly made reports for the Lithuanian media.

He also reminded how he interviewed Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1990 in Nakhchivan.

“I asked rather pointed questions about the independence of Lithuania. He answered all the questions, wished success to the independent Lithuania and expressed hope that Azerbaijan would also be independent,” he said.

The journalist also noted that he did an interview with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku in 2007. He said that compared to 2007, Baku has changed a lot and is developing like all modern metropolitan cities.

Staselis was repeatedly elected journalist of the year in Lithuania, worked in a number of famous Lithuanian publications such as Mazoji Lietuva, Respublika, Lietuvos zinios, Verslo klase and Verslo zinios, and also served as an editor of the Lithuanian public television and collaborated with many popular newspapers.

Terese Staniulyte also collaborates with Lithuanian media. She served as head of public relations department at the country’s Ministry of Finance.
