Armenia's authorities are ready for dialogue with the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC), but they are not prepared to beg, ruling coalition's Republican Party of Armenia MP and head of coalition working group conversing with ANC Davit Harutyunyan stated during a briefing with news reporters on Tuesday, News.am reported.
"We are ready for discourse, and this is the best formulation we can give today. And if the other party agrees to continue...After all, the other party suspended the dialogue. Is the other party prepared to continue the discourse? Ask this question to them," Harutyunyan noted.
According to the MP, "dialogue is not an end unto itself; it must have one important task: to advance and assist the country so it can develop, become democratic, and meet the challenges."
"Yet discourse can be used for political objectives. I believe at one point our colleagues decided to use this matter for political, present-day objectives, and attempted to gain dividends from their voters. I believe that is why they deviated from the true purpose of the dialogue," Davit Harutyunyan maintained.
In his words, it is the country itself that needs this discourse.
