Employees of the Poti Port on the Black Sea coast of Georgia are continuing to strike which they started on Thursday. They are demanding higher wages and better working conditions.

About 70 per cent of the employees and workers of Poti Port are out. Sailors of the port fleet and a group of reservists also do not work. Only the leased berths operate.

"The financial damage is very important and that will have a very negative impact on the port's performance. A lot of businesses are associated with the port and we face the danger that entrepreneurs will not import goods. This will have a bad effect not only on the state of the port, but also on the entire economy of the country," the port head Joseph Crowley said.
